BAKFISH Homebrew Meetup
Are you missing in person homebrew bottle shares? You should come out to BAKFISH Brewing in Pearland on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm. Kris hosts a homebrew meet up that night to talk about brewing and pass around some homebrew to sample. Its a great place to get feedback on a beer. You might also come away with a friendly challenge. In December, the group picked a couple of ingredients and decided we each would brew a beer with them. Our ingredients were Vienna Malt and mushrooms. At least 4 of us will have our mushroom beers at the February meet up. This is going to be interesting. Hope to see some of you there.
Bay View Duck – F.A.R.T. Invitation from The Force
Michael “The Force” Wiley’s invitation: For the past few Fridays and probably will continue for the next few, we have 6-12 folks (newer and old BAMMERS) that are FARTing at Bayview Duck, a British-y pub located in Bayview/Bacliff. BAM has been a regular visitor to the pub since the club began in 1991, and BVD has been a past sponsor for Lunar Rendezbrew starting from LR I. For those of you who might not have visited, BVD, its Brit beers and a revolving selection of local beers; Alec’s beer mixology; and traditional Brit fare and vibe. We usually meet around 5 – 5:30 PM… If you are looking for a place to alti-FART, come on down! (not BAM-sponsored (legalese))… CHEERS!

Hoppin Grape – New Items
Our friends over at Hoppin Grape have some new toys in stock. If you are looking to upgrade to a 3 burner system or add barrel aging to your brewing, stop by and check these out. You can always reach out to Keith and Mindy Brooks for more information about this or any other equipment needs.

Adolph Postel – Help Needed
Adolph could use some help with a repair to his heating element. If you have any expertise in assisting him, that would be greatly appreciated.

Tim Gamble – 6 Wards Beer Release
Tim Gamble’s Irishman’s Extravangance Beer Release – Thanks to all the Mashtronauts that came out to 6 Wards Brewing Company to celebrate Tim Gamble’s beer release of Irishman’s Extravagance. It was great to see so much support for a fellow Mashtronaut. And the beer was fantastic! Get over to 6 Wards Brewing Company and try some while supplies last.

Nuts N Bolts 2021
What is Nuts N Bolts?
You may have heard the term “Nuts N’ Bolts” from a meeting, our website, YouTube, etc. But what does it mean to the Mashtronauts? The Nuts and Bolts competition is the Bay Area Mashtronauts annual intra-club competition. While not officially sanctioned by the AHA, this competition gives the winners bragging rights for the whole year. The competition typically pairs beginning brewers with more experienced brewers. Brewers are usually paired up in at the February meeting and given special instructions for their brew(s) together. Its a great way to learn more of the art of brewing, and is a great bonding experience for club members.
2021 Competition
Teams and theme have been announced, so get your passports ready! Find everything you need to know about the competition here. Teams will have the opportunity to brew two beers together to earn points towards winning the year long competition.
N&B Information
1. Extra beer for the judges is ALWAYS good (blatant bribe speak…)
2. The NUTS& BOLTS Scoresheet will be uploaded soon. Like Last Year:
- Points for entering the N&B events
- Points for Honorable Mention, 3rd, 2nd (the “Paul”), and 1st
- Points for entering other “N&B sanctioned events”
- N&B sanctioned events will be listed on the N&B scoresheets
