2021 Officer Elections

The 2021 officer election for the Bay Area Mashtronauts will take place on Tuesday November 9th at Saloon Door Brewing, or online via Zoom Meetings. Here is the Zoom information:

We will continue to have an online ballot for those opting to participate remotely, and for ease of tabulation of the ballots for those in person at the event. Paper ballots will be made available at the meeting for those who elect to vote that way.

Below is the link to the online ballot. So far, only 1 person has been nominated, seconded, and accepted the nomination for each position. We have made the link available in advance for review purposed, but there could be nominations from the floor the night of the meeting. Please make sure to hear all nominations before beginning the online voting process to ensure full consideration of all candidates.

August BAM Meeting

Our August in person meeting will be at Saloon Door Brewing in their “Texas Room” on Tuesday August 10th. Please note that the location has changed for this month. Please spread the word. Homebrew will be allowed for a bottle share, but outside commercial beer is not. We will try this out in August and see how it goes.

Additionally, since there is not a lot of new business to discuss, we will not be hosting a Zoom link for the meeting. Instead, we will record the meeting and post it online for your viewing pleasure if you are not able to attend in person.

We will discuss upcoming competitions to keep the momentum going. We will also discuss upcoming education opportunities, and events.

Please remember that meetings are for dues paid members. Guests are welcome, and we’re always wanting potential new members to stop in and see what the Mashtronauts are all about. To become a member, please find the links in the menu above.

City Acre Brewing Competition – July

On Saturday July 17, 2021, several Mashtronauts participated in the City Acre Brewing Competition. All the beers were amazing, and everyone had a great time. John Black took 3rd place overall in the competition. They will be hosting another competition December 4th, 2021. Be on the look out if you’d like to participate.

First Friday Education Class

On the first Friday of every month at 6:30 pm, the Mashtronauts will present an hour and a half education class for dues paid members. Topics will vary, but some examples are malt & hop sensory training, yeast propagation, water chemistry, and beer style discussions.

What to bring: a 3 ring binder and 2 pens of different colors.

After the education portion of the class is complete, we will have a roundtable feedback session for you on competition beers for any of the upcoming competitions. We will sample, and give honest feedback as a judge in a competition would. Please feel free to bring any beers with you that you need some feedback on. This will not be a standard bottle share.

This will be an in person only event. Education classes are for dues paid members. If you are not currently a paid member and would like to participate, please see our website for how to join the Mashtronauts. Our dues are only $20 per year.

With a couple of months of in person meetings under our belt, I think we are officially back to our pre-covid routine. We’re excited to be able to host an in person meeting at Hoppin Grape Homebrew Supply on Tuesday May 11th. We will also provide a link to the Zoom meeting for those who can’t attend or still prefer the online meeting. That link will be emailed to dues paid members and posted on our social media account on Tuesday May 11th.

Be prepared for competition updates, as well as Lunar Rendezbrew updates. You might also have the opportunity to be recorded for inclusion in the LR27 awards show. So make yourself look presentable if you want to be on camera.

Hoppin Grape Brew In – April 2021

Our favorite homebrew supply shop hosted a brew in on Sunday April 11, 2021 for Keith’s 49th birthday. It was such an amazing event, we can’t wait to see what he does for the big 5-0!
